a1: Well earthquakes are caused by the collision of the earths plates. Mostly occur on the pacific coast but can also occur anywhere.

a1: I think this is because the plates that collide are colliding under the ocean. Which means that when an earthquake has occured the plates under the ocean or above like the one in Iceland, have collided.
Question 3: What is that area called?
a1: The area is called The Ring of Fire which is located around the Pacific ocean.
Question 4: Where is the earthquake closest to Manitou Springs?
a1: The earthquake closest to Manitou Springs is in Denver and people in Manitou would not be able to feel it because of the distance and the magnitude. A magnitude 1 is to weak to feel while a magnitude of 5 would be mush more strong to the point where we might be able to feel it.

a1: The earthquake i chose is an earthquake of 5.0 magnitude and has happened at 11:23 am (mountain standard) on January 14. This earthquake accurately occured at 31.210°N, 103.427°E. It occured on the eastern border of Sichuan, China. The depth of this earthquake was about 25.9 km (16.1 miles).

a1: In an earthquake you must stay safe or sad consequences could happen. Like Any bookcase type piece of furniture that might topple over during an earthquake should be secured to a wall, A meeting place for your family, outside the home, should be identified. and also standing in a door way would be a very safe place to sit/ stand during a doorway=]
