Our solar system is very unique and different in many ways. Our atmosphere contains Nitrogen, Oxygen, and Argon. These components affect other things in the atmosphere, like the water vapor. Our climate is affected by the water vapor CO2, CH4, N2O, and SO2. But though the greenhouse effect is sometimes thought as a bad thing. Yet, trace amounts of gases warm our atmosphere enough to sustain life.
But our atmosphere doesn't only contain gases, it also contains particles of dust, rain, snow, and volcanic ash. Geologists say, back then, there was no free oxygen. Then when Photosynthesizing bacteria evolved, the oxygen steadily rose from 0%, 2 billion years ago to 21% today.
The pressure of the atmosphere varies different heights, like at sea level it would be 960 to 1050 millibars and on top of Mt. Everest. it would most likely be about 300 millibars.
