The Science Of Rockets
Nasa used Atlas Rockets to launch probes into space. The rockets are 58 meters high, They have 3 stages. The Atlas which uses bith solid-fuel boosters and liquid-fuel engines. The Centaur that uses liquid-fuel engines to maneuver into proper orbit. And The Payload which is satellite or spacecraft carried by a rocket.
The Space Program
Nasa had many projects to land on the moon. But one, Apollo 13 was the most extreme. Apollo 13 was lauched on April 11, 1970. It was at first, the smoothest flight but everything changed. 2 days into the flight, an oxygen tank blew up, which was a huge disaster in this case. Also, the command module(CM) supply of eectricity, light, and water was lost, The crew finally found a way to remove the carbon dioxide from the rocket using materials from the rocket. And they finally landed in the pacific ocean near Samoa.
Exploring Space Today
Nasa conducted a robot called a "Personal Satellite Assistant". This was a robot that had all sorts of technology that would help Nasa. This robot would float next to an astronaut in space and tell them information such as the temperature, pressure, and air quality.
Using Space Science On Earth
Nasa wanted money invested to the space program and every dollar invested, the U.S economy would recieve a $7 return in the form of job creation,economic growth, and taxes. But many people argued that the money could be used formore useful things, such asmedical care.
